Abstract:

A hybrid compression garment comprises a sleeve adapted for placement on a limb of a person for applying static compression to the limb. A connecting device on the sleeve enables releasable connection of the sleeve to a machine. The machine is independent of the sleeve and operable to transmit, through the connecting device, a force to the sleeve that constricts the sleeve without inflating the sleeve to apply active compression to the limb. The connecting device is adapted for connection of the sleeve to the machine such that the sleeve can be used to apply active compression to the limb and adapted for disconnection of the sleeve from the machine such that the sleeve can be used to apply static compression to the limb. A method of applying compression to a limb of a person is also disclosed.

Abstract:

A valve assembly for use with a catheter assembly is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve housing defining a longitudinal axis and adapted for fluid engagement with a catheter assembly. The valve housing has an internal passageway for flow of fluids relative to the catheter assembly. A valve member is at least partially disposed within the valve housing and defines a valve passage. The valve member is adapted for movement within the valve housing between an open position wherein the valve passage is in general alignment with the internal passageway of the valve housing to permit flow of fluids through the valve housing, and a closed position to substantially occlude the internal passageway of the valve housing. An actuation mechanism is selectively movable in a general longitudinal direction to cause corresponding movement of the valve member between the open position and the closed position.

Abstract:

This invention is directed toward a frost-prevention device which sits on a vehicle windshield. The invention consists of a thin sheet of suitable fabric with ends long enough to extend beyond the sides of the windshield into the space between the car door and the door jam. The invention also has top and bottom portions which may be tailored to accommodate the curves from the bottom of the windshield to the hood of the car and from the top of the windshield over the roof of the car as desired. Because the device can be physically restrained when a user closes a car door on the sides of the invention, it is not only theft-resistant but also can be secured to the windshield of a vehicle through this means, thereby allowing it to remain in place with no additional means of fastening the device to the window or windshield.
