Abstract:
An optical beam homogenizer includes an entrance pupil through which a non-uniform optical beam propagates. A first optical component having plural flat surfaces receives the input beam. The flat surfaces of the first optical component effectively segment the entrance pupil by dividing the input beam into plural beamlets, one beamlet for each pupil segment and flat surface. The beamlets are received by a second optical component which also has multiple flat surfaces, each flat surface receiving a beamlet. The second optical component directs the beamlets toward each other such that they overlap at an exit pupil of the system. The second optical component also focuses the beamlets such that an image of each entrance pupil segment is formed at the exit pupil. The images of the individual entrance pupil segments are superimposed upon each other at the exit pupil to form a uniform optical output beam.

Abstract:
A system and method for optically scanning a scene are disclosed. The system is rotated about a pitch axis and a roll axis to provide the desired scanning capability. The system consists of a primary mirror, a secondary mirror, a tertiary mirror and a fold mirror. The fold mirror is located between the primary and secondary mirrors and reflects the light from the field of view along the pitch axis of the system. The light is reflected by a series of plane fold mirrors to the roll axis and out through an exit aperture. Because the light is reflected along the pitch axis and roll axis, the system can be rotated about these axes while the optical output is maintained as required. Rotation about these axes through internal points between the primary and secondary mirrors minimizes the volume swept out by the system during rotation and maximizes the angles through which the system can be rotated.
A laser writing apparatus includes a laser light source which directs an expanded beam of laser light onto a two-dimensional phase grating. The phase grating splits the beam into a two-dimensional array of individual bundles of collimated light or beamlets. Each individual row of beamlets is reflected by a single strip mirror toward the surface on which a pattern is to be written. By moving the surface under the beams at a selected angle, multiple parallel lines can be written simultaneously on the surface.
An autostereo projection system uses multiple projectors to form a seamless and extended field of view. Each projector is registered to a CRT display. Shutter elements in each projector create multiple pupils for each CRT display. Each CRT display is driven with different images for each shutter pupil.
An arrangement for interferometrically recording in a single interferogram a full development of the contour of a symmetrical reflective surface, such as an internal or external cylindrical or conical surface. An optical system projects a light wave onto the reflective surface such that a reflected wave is formed. The reflected wave is interfered with a reference light wave to generate an interference pattern, and only a selected portion of the interference pattern is projected onto a film medium for recording. The reflective surface is scanned with the projected wave by relatively moving the projected wave relative to the surface, and synchronously therewith, the projected interference pattern is moved relative to the recording medium in a manner such that the information recorded on the film medium is a full development of the contour of the reflective surface.
