  • US Classification:
    362 7
  • Abstract:
A light-diffusion box for illuminating a subject by means of a lamp placed within the box comprises in combination: a hollow rear casing having multiple facets and a reflecting internal face, the casing being constituted by a first sheet of opaque semi-rigid material provided with folding lines between the facets for collapsing the box to a flat state or for erecting the box in three dimensional form in readiness for use; a light-diffusing screen consisting of a translucent second sheet which is capable of assuming a flat shape; fasteners fitted respectively on the edges of the first sheet and on the edges of the second sheet; a central opening formed in the first sheet in order to place a light source in position within the diffusion box; folding lines which extend from the central opening to the periphery of the first sheet; a series of peripheral cut-outs formed in the first sheet with fastenable edges for converting the first sheet to a hollow casing; a polygonal contour at the periphery of the second sheet and corresponding in shape to the contour of the hollow casing formed by the first sheet.

  • US Patent:
    61097667, Aug 29, 2000
  • Filed:
    Sep 18, 1998
  • Appl. No.:
    9/154659
  • Inventors:
    Mardick Baliozian - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    F21V 1902
    F21V 1402
  • US Classification:
    362287
  • Abstract:
A lighting device comprising one or more light sources placed in respect to a concentrating concave or echelon main reflector, with the light emitted by the light source(s) being reflected by the main reflector so as to create a projected pattern of light to be directed onto a subject to be illuminated, a focusable light being achieved by shifting means capable of displacing or tilting the light source(s) with regard to the optical axis of the reflector. Said shifting means are apt to displace said at least one light source in a direction or at an angle to and from said optical axis of said reflector, in a plane substantially perpendicular to said axis, or to tilt the at least one light source(s). The light source(s) is(are) placed around said optical axis of the reflector and are movable or inclinable in a direction away from the optical axis of said reflector.

  • US Patent:
    51997860, Apr 6, 1993
  • Filed:
    Apr 10, 1992
  • Appl. No.:
    7/867053
  • Inventors:
    Mardick Baliozian - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    F21V 700
  • US Classification:
    362297
  • Abstract:
A modular reflector element for a lighting device houses an elongated light-source such as a U-shaped cylindrical tubular lamp. The reflector element has a reflecting surface on the front face which is directed towards the light source, a series of ribs on the rear face, and lateral edge members formed by end ribs which are rearwardly inclined towards each other and with respect to a front plane.
  • Device For Side-Lighting A Subject Placed In Front Of Background As Well As For Lighting The Background Itself, For Example When Taking Pictures Of The Subject By Photography, Cinematography Or The Like

  • US Patent:
    48720313, Oct 3, 1989
  • Filed:
    Feb 18, 1988
  • Appl. No.:
    7/157386
  • Inventors:
    Mardick Baliozian - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    G03B 1500
  • US Classification:
    354291
  • Abstract:
A device for side-lighting a subject placed in front of a background as well as for lighting the background itself, for example when taking pictures of the subject by photography, cinematography or the like, consists of a series of reflecting panels attached to a solid or hollowed-out common central background wall or attached to each other around a free surface corresponding to the rear end-wall of the assembly. These reflecting panels are disposed in raised and inclined positions with respect to the background plane of the assembly in orientations such that said panels are capable of reflecting the light emitted by a front light source towards the subject to be photographed as well as towards the rear end-wall of the assembly, the assembly being of generally concave shape.
  • Device For Holding A Removable Accessory In Position On A Flashlight Casing

  • US Patent:
    51618710, Nov 10, 1992
  • Filed:
    Jun 7, 1991
  • Appl. No.:
    7/713387

    Mardick Baliozian - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    G03B 1502
  • US Classification:
    362 18
  • Abstract:
A device for holding a removable accessory in position on the casing of a flashlight includes retaining members which project outwards from the front wall of the flashlight casing and are placed around an opening through which a light source is passed. The device is also provided with means for simultaneous radial displacement of the retaining members between a position of release and a position of clamping of the accessory by cooperation of the retaining members with the neck of the accessory, and elements for ensuring that the means employed for displacement of the retaining members are controlled through the intermediary of a ring disposed coaxially with the opening through which the light source is passed. The retaining members are guided with radial slideways.

A lighting appliance having high diffusion power, in particular for illuminating a subject when taking photographs, shooting films or the like. The appliance comprises a diffusion screen placed in front of a light source carried by the base of the lighting unit and a reflector placed behind the light source. The diffusion screen has at least two flat or curved faces directed both towards the front and towards the sides. The space delimited above the base of the lighting unit is closed at the rear by a reflecting wall and the top face of the base is also reflecting. A curved or faceted lateral cheek is provided opposite to the faces of the diffusion screen and on each side. The cheek face which is directed towards the diffusion screen is reflecting and the internal edges of the cheek are rigidly fixed both to the corresponding edge of the base of the lighting unit and to the respective rear edge of the diffusion screen.
