Abstract:

A medical device for measuring the angular deviation of an elongated insertion instrument inserted into an urethra and method for determining the condition of the pelvic floor of a patient. It includes a channel adapted to receive an elongated insertion instrument along a longitudinal access and an indicator to measure an angular deviation along a longitudinal axis from a reference axis. The medical device may also include an elongated insertion instrument inserted along the longitudinal access of its channel. A method for determining the condition of the pelvic floor of a patient by inserting the medical device into the urethra of a patient, reading a first angular deviation from a reference axis, instructing the patient to strain or cough, and reading a second angular deviation from a reference axis. The difference in first and second angular deviation measures the degree of prolapse of the urethrovesical junction of the patient.

Abstract:

A performance monitoring system and method are realized and implemented, respectively, by a software system. The software system can be configured to automatically monitor one or more remotely located laser imagers over a period of time to generate image quality control reports, eliminating the need for manual generation of such reports by a technician. The software system also can be configured to monitor modality usage, imaging media usage, and the occurrence of errors for each laser imager, and to automatically generate usage reports and error reports. In addition, the software system can be configured to automatically send the reports to users of the laser imagers, automatically initiate an order to send additional imaging media, and automatically initiate a request for dispatch of a service technician in response to an error condition. As a further advantage, the software system can be configured to generate the image quality control reports in conformance with standards of regulatory agencies or other organizations regulating usage of laser imagers.

Abstract:

A light emitting diode light strip that uses a rigid hollow tube (20) sized to accommodate a printed circuit board (22) which has a positive and negative bus extending the full length of the board. One or more resistors (38) are in contact with the positive bus on one end and a series of light emitting diodes (44) on the other. The diodes are mounted through holes (34) in the board and the anode of the diode is in communication with a resistor while the cathode of the diode contacts an adjacent diode anode connecting them in linked series through traces on the bottom of the circuit board. The end cathode in each series, engages the negative bus forming a predetermined group of diodes electrically coupled to a single resistor on one end and the negative bus on the other. A pair of end caps (50) enclose the tube and an electrical cable (60) is connected through the caps to the busses on the circuit board. A power supply (64) is in contact, through the electrical cable, with the board providing low voltage direct current power through the busses to a predetermined group of light emitting diodes, for illumination of the area surrounding the light strip.
