Abstract:
The present invention concerns a locking mechanism () including a plate () and a base (). The plate has a first projection (), a second projection () and a first surface area () for receiving a decorative image (). The base has a first slot () and a second slot () in which the first slot runs at least substantially along a first axis (A) that is at a predetermined angle with respect to a vertical axis (V) of the base, and at least a portion of the second slot runs at least substantially along a second axis (A) that is at least substantially perpendicular to the first axis.

Abstract:
A collapsible stylus () is disclosed, which includes at least one spring () and a plurality of body panels (). The at least one spring can be placed along a longitudinal axis of the collapsible stylus. The plurality of body panels can envelope the at least one spring. The plurality of body panels can be forced into an expanded state by the at least one spring in the absence of an external force. Further, the plurality of panels can be compressed into a collapsed state on the application of external force.

Abstract:
A hinge assembly () for a clamshell-type electronic device includes a spindle () and casing sleeve (). The hinge assembly () facilitates a single-split hinge. In addition to providing the mechanical hinging action, the hinge assembly () provides a reliable electrical connection between a first portion () and a second portion () of the clamshell device. The spindle () includes a nock () through which a linking member () of a flexible substrate () passes. The nock (), having a semi-circumferential stop () bridging a first nock wall () and second nock wall (), facilitates the electrical connection between an electrical circuit disposed in the first portion () of the electronic device and an electrical circuit disposed within the second portion () of the electronic device. In one embodiment, a hinge assembly () facilitates other components, such as an image capture device () being disposed within the hinge region of an electronic device.
A device () such as a wireless phone, pager, organizer, PDA, or handheld PC includes an orientation sensor () to determine the orientation of the device (). One of a first notification and a second notification is given to the user () of the device () based upon the determined orientation. An exemplary embodiment provides a first notification via an audible ringer () when the orientation of the device () is determined to be substantially horizontal. A second notification that is substantially inaudible is otherwise provided via a vibration generator ().
