Abstract:

Aspects of the invention are directed toward the centralized reception and processing of documents and the presentation of electronic representations of those documents to the document owners. For example, certain embodiments of the invention are directed toward a method of providing a virtual mailbox that includes providing a menu of disposition options electronically via a network to a remote user for disposition of materials having contents. The method can further include receiving instructions from the user relating to disposition of the materials and receiving the materials with contents intended for a remote user. The method can further include obtaining an image of the contents and storing the image of the contents. The method can still further include providing an image of the contents electronically via the network in a virtual mailbox accessible by the remote user, storing the contents in a storage location, and applying the disposition rules to the contents.

In selected embodiments, processing an item can include processing the item in accordance with instructions provided by a remote user. In certain embodiments, at least some of the items that have been processed can then be returned to storage. Still other aspects of the invention can include monitoring various portions of the item management process. In selected embodiments, various aspects of the invention can be automated and/or computer controlled. Additionally, various aspects of the invention can allow non-uniform items to be stored in a uniform structure.

Abstract:

A coaxial helically actuated disc brake is provided. The coaxial disc brake includes a pressure plate that is rotationally actuated and helically guided by a brake support structure to axially engage a brake pad carrier with a rotor. The pressure plate, brake pad carrier and rotor are all coaxial with the rotating member upon which the coaxial disc brake acts. Multiple concentric pressure plates and brake pad carriers can be used. Multiple brake pad carriers acting as stators can be coaxially stacked between multiple coaxial rotors. A low friction device, material or element can be placed between the pressure plate and brake pad carrier to allow for easier disengagement of the brake.

Aspects of the invention are directed toward a method and system for managing physical items for remote entities wherein a plurality of physical items associated with at least one of the remote entities are received in a location remote from the entities. The system determines which of the remote entities is associated with the items, and the system collects data about the items, including data about the size of each item. Abstract:

The present disclosure provides methods and apparatuses for recruiting students. Using the methods and apparatus disclosed herein, educators can more efficiently recruit prospective students. Educational institutions can increase the efficiency of recruitment efforts by automatically generating outbound calls to prospective students. Outbound calls to prospective students are automatically generated when a prospective student is directed to call a recruitment center and the prospective student fails to call within a set time period. Outbound calls to prospective students are also automatically generated when a student is performing an online process to set an appointment and requests an immediate call. In addition, educational institutions can simplify the appointment scheduling process by incorporating an administrator's schedule into a student database. The student database may contain a list associated with a prospective student's preferred interview times, as well as a list of the administrator's available times. The present disclosure provides a method for presenting times to the student that are only present on both lists.

Abstract:

A kinetic energy recovery and electric drive system for automotive vehicles comprises an electric pancake motor-generator () having its stator housing () coupled, combined or integrated with the gearbox housing () of a gearbox () or final drive mechanism () and its rotor shaft () oriented vertically and perpendicular to the drive-shaft () or drive axle () of the vehicle. In certain embodiments the pancake motor rotor () may be fitted or integral with a perpendicular peripheral stiffening flange (A, B, 213) in which is located a plurality of equally spaced permanent magnets () of alternating polarity that electromagnetically engage with electromagnets (A, B) of the pancake motor-generator stator. To facilitate retrofitting to existing vehicles the system may include an autonomous hybrid controller () that includes at least one sensor () to detect motion of the vehicle and/or motor without requiring any interface or integration with the vehicle's subsystems.
