Abstract:

Techniques to track and publish changes to object instances. For an “outbound process” to publish object instances, a list of object instances is initially received. For each received object instance, a determination is made whether or not the object instance has changed since its last publication. For each changed object instance, a delta snapshot is generated and includes data indicative of changes between the current and last published versions of the object instance. Delta snapshots for all changed object instances are then published. For an “inbound process” to receive object instances, the published delta snapshots are initially received. For each received delta snapshot, the corresponding object instance is retrieved and updated with the changes included in the delta snapshot. A new snapshot is also generated for each updated object instance such that the received changes are not published, and unpublished changes made locally are noted for subsequent publication.

In one embodiment, a method for providing a transient data facility for database applications includes creating a definition of transient data that corresponds to a unit of work to be performed by an application, and mapping the definition of transient data to a temporary storage table. An example method facilitates modification and generation of User Interface (UI) display screens for webpages and web applications, such as process-based software applications. The example method includes receiving a first signal to access a webpage that includes a static UI display screen for a web application; serving the webpage in response to the signal; detecting the dynamic configuration functionality associated with the webpage, wherein the configuration functionality includes code and UI metadata provided in or with a dynamic layout file, the code and UI metadata including one or more rules and specifications for configuring schema used to generate rendering instructions for the dynamic part of the webpage.
