A spandrel panel is provided which has at least one low visible light transmittance pane having a composition such that the low visible light transmittance pane exhibits, when measured utilizing Illuminant D65, a visible light transmittance (T) of 15% or less. In the past, spandrel panels were typically constructed with a film or coating, for example a frit, disposed on at least one surface of one of the panes or with a sheet of opaque material positioned within or next to the spandrel panel. In the present invention, obtaining low visible light transmittance through the spandrel panel is achieved via the chemical composition of at least one of the panes. This results in a lower cost spandrel panel.

Abstract:
Apparatus for melting and dispensing thermoplastic material including a hopper for receiving solid thermoplastic material, a flow-through grid melter secured to the bottom of the hopper and a heated reservoir mounted beneath the grid melter. The reservoir has a bottom discharge opening through which molten thermoplastic material is supplied to a pump. To control the temperature of molten material supplied to the pump, there is a deflector shield over the bottom discharge opening of the reservoir. This shield has downwardly and outwardly sloping top surfaces operable to force molten material falling onto the shield to flow outwardly over the top surface of the shield and then downwardly and inwardly over the top surface of the bottom wall of the reservoir before flowing into the outlet opening of the reservoir. To input desired temperatures for the grid and reservoir into the apparatus and to read out temperature data, there is a control console mounted atop the housing of the apparatus. This console is pivotally and vertically adjustable and facilitates operator interface with the apparatus.
People know there are long odds, says Scott Hoover, a professor of business administration at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. But people are irrational in buying. They see it as a form of entertainment because if you look at it as an investment, its a horrible thing to do.
