Abstract:

A turbine stage includes a stator nozzle having a row of vanes mounted between inner and outer bands. The inner band terminates in an ovate ledge converging aft from the vanes with radially outer and inner convex surfaces joined at a convex apex. The ovate ledge reduces aerodynamic losses at the rotary seal with a row of following turbine rotor blades.

Abstract:

A turbine stage includes a stator nozzle cooperating with a row of turbine blades. The nozzle includes a row of vanes mounted between inner and outer bands, with the inner band adjoining the blades at inner platforms thereof at a rotary seal. Abstract:

A method and system for controlling fuel in a gas turbine engine including a fuel supply system channeling fuel to a combustor are provided. The system includes a first heat exchanger configured to transfer heat between a working fluid and a first cooling medium. The system also includes a second heat exchanger in series flow communication with the first heat exchanger wherein the second heat exchanger is configured to transfer heat between the working fluid and a second cooling medium. The system further includes a modulating valve configured to control the flow of at least one of the first and the second cooling media to maintain a temperature of the first or second cooling medium substantially equal to a predetermined limit.

Abstract:

A tape containing an unbalanced woven fabric and an adhesive. The woven fabric has a warp dominant face and a filling dominant face, a plurality of warp yarns in a warp direction, and a plurality of filling yarns in a filling direction perpendicular to the warp direction crossing with the warp yarns at a plurality of intersections. At least 55% by number of the intersections have the warp yarn crossing with the filling yarn such that the warp yarn is on the warp dominant face of the fabric. At least 55% by number of the intersections have the warp yarn crossing with the filling yarn such that the filling yarn is on the filling dominant face of the fabric. The warp yarns have a linear mass density of between about 30 and 100 denier and the filling yarns have a linear mass density of between about 70 and 600 denier.
