Defoamers are the products of the reaction of epichlorohydrin and compounds having the formula II wherein R is an alkyl, alkenyl or arenyl group having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms; a substituted alkyl or alkenyl group having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms wherein; n is a number from 0 to 50 and m is a number from 0 to 10; wherein the mole ratio of epichlorohydrin to (II) is from about 0. 60/1 to about 2/1 are extremely efficient defoamers for aqueous surfactant systems. The defoamers are added to a surfactant in an amount sufficient to reduce or eliminate foam and have the advantage of being totally dispersible in water, are readily biodegradable, contain no organic solvents and do not affect the detergency of surfactants with which they are used because they are nonionic surfactants in themselves.
Process For Inhibiting Gel Formation Of Hydrated Detergent Tablets Containing Nonionic Surfactant Ethoxylates
A process for inhibiting gel formation of a tablet-form detergent composition upon hydration, the process involving: (a) providing a detergent composition containing a surfactant component selected from the group consisting of an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant, and mixtures thereof; (b) providing an anti-gelling agent selected from the group consisting of an alkyl polyglycoside, a polymeric surfactant, an alkyl sulfate, and mixtures thereof; and (c) mixing the surfactant with the anti-gelling prior to introducing the tablet-form detergent composition into water.
Use And Preparation Of Primary Amines To Improve Oily Soil Detergency Of Cleaning Compositions
A cleaning composition containing: (A) an alkyl polyglycoside corresponding to formula I: wherein R is a monovalent organic radical having from about 6 to about 30 carbon atoms; R is a divalent alkylene radical having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms; Z is a saccharide residue having 5 or 6 carbon atoms; b is a number having a value from 0 to about 12; a is a number having a value from 1 to about 6; and (B) at least one product of a reaction between: a) at least one linking agent of formula IV: âwherein each Y group is a halogen atom or one Y group is a halogen atom and two Y groups with two adjacent carbon atoms in the R group and an oxygen atom form an epoxy group, and R is an alkanetriyl group containing from 3 to 10 carbon atoms; and (b) at least one compound of formula (II) âwherein R is a substituted or unsubstituted saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic oxy or thio group having from 1 to about 36 carbon atoms or a secondary amino group having from 2 to about 36 carbon atoms; n, m, and p are independently numbers of from 0 to about 50; X is hydrogen, or a mercapto group or an amino group in place of a terminal âOH group, provided that when X is mercapto or amino, the sum of n, m, and p must be at least 1; and wherein the mole ratio of component a) to component b) is from about 0. 2/1 to about 5/1.
Use Of Surfactant Mixtures With Matching Hydrophobes To Obtain Increased Performance In Laundry Detergents
A surfactant composition containing a mixture of at least two surfactants selected from the group consisting of anionics, nonionics, cationics, amphoterics, and mixtures thereof, wherein the surfactants have matching carbon chain length distributions in their hydrophobic groups.
A chewing gum remover composition containing: (a) a C alkyl ester of a C saturated or unsaturated carboxylic acid; (b) a terpene; and (c) optionally, an oil-soluble surfactant, and wherein (a) and (b) are present in the composition in a ratio by weight of from about 10:1 to about 1:10.
Terpene-free hard surface cleaning compositions comprised of a C -C alkyl ester of a C -C saturated or unsaturated carboxylic acid and a surfactant having an HLB of from about 4 to about 10 are effective in cleaning hard surfaces. Terpene-free microemulsions having improved high and low temperature stability are also effective for cleaning hard surfaces and are comprised of an anionic surfactant; a primary solvent consisting of a C -C alkyl ester of a C -C saturated or unsaturated carboxylic acid and a short-chain cosurfactant. The disclosed cleaning compositions are especially effective in removing graffiti and paint from surfaces.
A terpene-free cleaning composition containing: (a) an oil-soluble anionic surfactant; (b) a water-soluble anionic surfactant; (c) a primary solvent consisting of a C alkyl ester; (d) a short-chain cosurfactant; and (e) water.

somber Dickens who would feel obliged to record the tragedy and depth of child poverty he witnessed. Although only a teen, Walsh gives the illusion of a person of stature. The eldest in the cast is 17-year-old Stephen Gross who is wonderfully abrasive as Mr. Pinch, the clear inspiration for Scrooge.
