Abstract:

A cushioning component for use in shoes including athletic shoes and, for example, running shoes includes a cushioning layer including a first zone and a second zone where the first zone comprises a progressive compression material.In one aspect, the first zone can comprise one or more areas defined within the second zone. For example, the first zone can comprise two areas, one area in a relative front portion of the shoe component and another area in a relative rear portion of the shoe component.Alternatively, in another aspect, the first zone and second zone can be arranged in a laminate-type relationship in the shoe component. In this regard, the first zone can be located either above or below the second zone.The shoe component can be employed as a traditional element of a shoe, such as a midsole or the outsole. Alternatively, the shoe component can comprise an additional component, for example, the shoe component can be employed between the midsole and outsole of a shoe or an insert located above the midsole.

Abstract:

An infant head support for use with infant retaining devices, such as automobile auxiliary seats, infant carriers, swing seats, baby strollers and the like, used for the retention of infants and early age children. The head support comprises a somewhat dense but resilient foam member which is adapted to fit within a pair of opposed side walls on the infant retaining device, e. g. a pair of forwardly extending flange portions on an infant seat. The foam member is formed with a first opening generally sized to conform to and receive the head of an infant. A second opening, which is larger than the first opening, is sized to engage the shoulders and the upper arm portions of the infant. Moreover, the dense but resilient foam member can be captured between the opposed walls on the infant retaining device so that it retains the infant's head in a fixed position. The infant's head creates outwardly projected lateral forces on the foam member which are opposed by the walls of the infant retaining device and thereby retains the infant's head in a position generally aligned with the torso at a point in the life of the infant when the neck muscles are not strong enough to support its head.

Abstract:

A reflective seat shield (commonly referred to as a reflective cover) for use in protecting unoccupied infant retaining devices, such as automobile auxiliary seats (e. g. , infant car seats), infant carriers, baby strollers, and the like, from the sun's light and heat. The reflective cover is uniquely designed in such a way as to adaptively fit over a number of different and varying sized and shaped infant retaining devices when in use, and to be compactly folded-up flat or wadded up into a small compact unit for storage when not in use. The reflective cover includes an elastic band or the like along its periphery to retentively hold it closely fitted around and over the infant retaining device. The reflective cover, which is also easily removed from the retaining device allows an attendant to later place a child in the infant receiving seat section of the retaining device which has previously been consistently maintained at a relatively moderate temperature. This protects the child from discomfort and/or injury such as severe burns, etc.

Abstract:

Topical methods and compositions are disclosed for the treatment of pseudofolliculitis barbae and ingrown hair. The compositions comprise acetylsalicylic acid, propylene glycol, glycerine, and isopropyl alcohol. The method involves the step of applying the composition to the beard areas of the face after shaving. The acetylsalicylic acid is dissolved in a solvent mixture comprising propylene glycol, glycerine, and isopropyl alcohol. The acetylsalicylic acid is present in the range of between about 5 percent by weight per unit volume of the solvent mixture up to saturation of the solvent mixture. The solvent mixture comprises propylene glycol in the range of about 5 percent to 15 percent by volume, glycerine in the range of about 1 percent to 10 percent by volume, and the balance of the volume made up with isopropyl alcohol alone or a solution comprising at least 50 percent by volume of isopropyl alcohol. The isopropyl alcohol can be in a solution with water, methanol, or ethanol, provided that the polarity of the resulting solution is not so high that the acetylsalicylic acid would readily precipitate from the solution at ordinary room temperature ranges.
