Abstract:

A data/information storage and retrieval medium, comprising: (a) a disk-shaped substrate including at least one surface with a layer stack thereon and including at least one magnetic or magneto-optical (âMOâ) recording layer and an uppermost, protective overcoat layer comprising a carbon (C)-based material; and (b) a lubricant topcoat layer on the protective overcoat layer, the lubricant topcoat layer treated solely with UV radiation at a dosage sufficient to increase the glide yield, decrease the glide noise, and increase the number of CSS pass cycles of the medium before failure, relative to that of the same medium but with an untreated lubricant topcoat layer.

Abstract:

A medical system includes one or more processors. The processors are configured to perform operations including receiving image data associated with an anatomic feature from a first imaging device. The image data is associated with a first imaging device space. Probe data associated with the anatomic feature is obtained from a second imaging device. The probe data is associated with a second imaging device space. The probe data is registered to the image data to generate a first registration between the second imaging device space and the first imaging device space. Anatomic model associated with the anatomic feature is registered to the probe data to generate a second registration between a model space of the anatomic model and the second imaging device space. A third registration between the model space and the first imaging device space is generated based on the first registration and the second registration.

Abstract:

A computing system running a host operating system and a virtual machine (VM). The computing system includes at least one device that is directly assigned to the VM. The computing system is configured to execute one or more first VM components and one or more second VM components. The one or more first VM components are configured to manage the one or more second VM components via one or more identification pointers. While the one or more second VM components remain loaded in a system memory, and the directly assigned device remains attached to the VM and remains configured to communicate with the one or more second VM component, the one or more first VM components are shut down and restored.

Abstract:

Communicating a low-latency event across a virtual machine boundary. Based on an event signaling request by a first process running at a first virtual machine, the first virtual machine updates a shared register that is accessible by a second virtual machine. Updating the shared register includes updating a signal stored in the shared register. The first virtual machine sends an event signal message, which includes a register identifier, through a virtualization fabric to the second virtual machine. The second virtual machine receives the event signaling message and identifies the register identifier from the message. Based on the register identifier, the second virtual machine reads the shared register, identifying a value of the signal stored in the shared register. Based at least on the value of the signal comprising a first value, the second virtual machine signals a second process running at the second virtual machine.

Abstract:

An operation of a VM running first and second VM components is suspended so that a servicing operation for the VM can be performed. The VM has devices directly attached to it. A state of the first VM components is saved. An identification pointer for the second VM components is saved in a portion of the computing system physical memory without removing any underlying data structures of second VM components from computing system physical hardware. The directly attached devices remain configured as attached to the VM and remain configured to communicate with the VM while the VM is suspended and while the servicing operation is performed. The first VM components are shut down and then restored at the completion of the servicing operation using the saved state. The restored first VM components are reconnected to the second VM components using the identification pointers. The operation of the VM is restored.
